Do Heavyweight Oversized T-Shirts Shrink?

All cotton can shrink slightly, but pre-shrunk fabric shrinks far less. Zentoku tees are pre-shrunk, and washing in cold water and air-drying keeps the fit stable.

What pre-shrunk means

Pre-shrunk fabric has been treated before the garment is cut, so most of the shrinkage has already happened. Heat is the main cause of further shrinkage, so cold washing and shade drying protect the fit.

Because oversized tees are cut generously, a small amount of shrinkage rarely changes the look.

How to keep the fit

  • Wash in cold water, around 30°C, on a gentle cycle.
  • Never tumble dry. Hang the tee to dry in the shade.
  • Avoid long soaks and very hot water.

The full routine, including how to protect the print, is in How to wash a graphic t-shirt and on the care guide.

Choosing your size with shrinkage in mind

Because Zentoku tees are pre-shrunk, order the size you want to wear: your usual size for the oversized look, or one size down for a standard fit. Check the measurements in the oversized size guide.
